Amazon's Glen. Hope you enjoy the new
digs. Historically, as
well as mythologically, Amazons have
always held a great deal of appeal for
me. They were both strong and independent
in a world that favored neither in its
women. Indeed, it is only in recent years
that the strong and independent woman has
been seen as a viable heroic figure in
mainstream literature and media
depictions. The ancient Amazon took on
monsters, gods, and warlords. Today's
Amazon battles corporate raiders, crime,
and sometimes even modern monsters.
I love the show Xena:
Warrior Princess. Through the modern
miracle of television, we are transported
back to the world of the ancient Amazons.
To these Amazons, and of course the
actresses who play them, I hereby
consecrate this glen.
